September results for Sensis Business Index

The Hodgman Liberal Government has a long-term Plan to Build Your Future, and I welcome the positive results released in the latest Sensis Business Index.

The release of the September results shows that small and medium sized Tasmanian business (SMBs) confidence is up +8 points from the previous month to +50, and 4 points above the national average.

In addition, SMBs say the Tasmanian Liberal Government is the most popular in the nation, increasing seven points to +16. In comparison, the second most popular State/Territory Government is the ACT with +3.

While we welcome this, we will not rest, and instead continue to create the right environment for businesses to flourish in Tasmania.

We have been working hard to make it easier to do business in Tasmania, including reducing red and green tape, implementing a Statewide planning scheme, and supporting new and existing businesses through Business Tasmania.

The Hodgman Liberal Government has also set a target to increase small business employment by 10 per cent by 2022.

The Government is also rolling out a $25 million package to support small businesses who employ a new apprentice or trainee, and payroll tax relief for larger businesses employing apprentices and trainees.

The Hodgman Government wants to make Tasmania the ideal place to conduct business, work, live and raise a family, and we will continue with our Plan to Build Your Future.
