Seniors Week 2017 (October 16 to 22) is an important event to recognise and promote healthy ageing in our community.
This year’s theme is Getting Outdoors, so it’s only fitting that we are in the beautiful Mount Field National Park to launch the week.
More than 200 seniors are here to kick off the week which promotes healthy ageing, including physical, mental, social, cultural and spiritual wellbeing.
Across Tasmania, more than 600 events will be held providing opportunities to be creative and find new hobbies, increase knowledge and pass on skills, have fun and make new friends.
Seniors are an amazing source of knowledge and expertise, and are recognised as the social ‘glue’ in our communities.
This event is an opportunity to celebrate seniors and the benefits they bring to communities, both socially and economically.
The Hodgman Liberal Government funds Council On The Ageing (COTA) Tasmania to coordinate Seniors Week and acknowledges its commitment to ensuring the annual event is as varied, accessible and enjoyable as possible.
