Sealing safety on Prossers Road complete

Safety on Prossers Road in Tasmania’s North East has been improved for road users, with 6.3 kilometres of sealing upgrade works now complete.

The Hodgman Liberal Government committed $2 million towards the progressive sealing of Prossers Road, as part of the $54.2 million State Road Upgrades Northern Region package for road improvements across the state’s north.

Funding was brought forward to this financial year to expedite the initial road sealing, which has resulted in three-metre-wide sealed lanes in both directions along a 6.3 kilometre stretch of Prossers Road, between Lilydale Road at Underwood and Patersonia Road at Nunamara.

The newly-sealed road will make travel safer and improve travel times, as well as provide a consistent, all-weather road environment for motorists.

These upgrades have been prioritised to help facilitate further development in the area and accommodate the expected future growth of Northern Tasmania.

The works began in January at the intersection of Prossers Road and Lilydale Road.

We appreciate the patience shown by motorists throughout this important project.
