Scoot Boots named Telstra Tasmanian Business of the Year

Congratulations to Scoot Boots for being named Tasmanian Business of the Year at the 2018 Telstra Tasmanian Business Awards in Hobart last night.

The brainchild of David MacDonald, Scoot Boots is the only Australian manufacturer of protective equine hoof boots designed to allow horses to forgo the steel shoe.

The Hodgman Liberal Government is a strong supporter of Tasmanian small businesses that are the lifeblood of the economy, especially in our rural and regional areas, and the awards recognise local businesses that go above and beyond and strive for excellence.

We have many great contenders for the awards each year coming from the 36,000 small to medium businesses operating across Tasmania that employ more than 100,000 Tasmanians.

This year’s awards saw 16 finalists chosen from entries across three categories: Small and Succeeding, Social Change Maker, and Emerging and Energised.

Scoot Boots, based at Acton Park, was awarded the Emerging and Energised business award recognising their success in inspiring, educating and advocating for a natural approach for horses around the globe, before going on to take out the overall award.

The Small and Succeeding business category was taken out by Find Your Feet Australia based in Hobart for their dedication in providing an exceptional retail experience and quality education to inspire the community to enjoy an outdoors lifestyle.

The Social Change Maker award went to Cancer Council Tasmania for their commitment to minimising the incidence and impact of cancer on all Tasmanians.

Each of our Tasmanian State Category Winners now go into the National Finals in Melbourne in September.

Congratulations to all of our 2018 finalists, category winners and our state winner, Scoot Boots, for their achievements in this year’s awards and we wish them every success at the National Finals.
