School Sports Australia Cross Country Championships

Tasmania will this weekend play host to up to 750 students from across Australia and New Zealand, taking part in the 2017 School Sports Australia Cross Country Championships.

The Tasmanian Government has a goal for our population to be the healthiest in Australia by 2025 and encouraging involvement in sport from a young age through school sports will help us to achieve that.

To the 78 young Tasmanians taking part,  I wish you all the best, representing your state at a national level is a big achievement.

Sporting events also contribute to our economy and are an opportunity to showcase all that Tasmania has to offer.

My Government will continue to support and encourage sporting events to come to Tasmania, from school championships to elite competitions.

The Cross Country Championships are being held at the Rokeby Police Academy tomorrow.
