No change to School Associations under Education Act

The Labor Party has shown they will say and do anything to create fear in the community over the new Education Act.

Once again they have got it wrong.

School Associations will remain incorporated bodies under the Education Act, they will continue to be able to fundraise and own property.

Under the changes to the Act, future property acquisition will require the approval of the Secretary of the Department of Education to protect School Association Members from liability.

The new Education Act represents the most significant transformation of and investment in the structural reform of education, in more than half a century.

The changes will give every Tasmanian child access to an extra six months of quality, play based, enquiry-led, learning and ensure our children get the same educational opportunities as their interstate counterparts.

It’s disappointing Labor continue to play politics with such an important issue.

The early years are critical for the development and success of our children, and we will continue working in partnership with the education sector to offer the best start to life for Tasmanian children.
