EMBARGOED: SAC Release of Final Report: Sentencing of Driving Offences that Result in Death or Injury

*Please note: This is strictly under embargo until 12.05am, Wednesday 26 April 2017*

The Government thanks the Sentencing Advisory Council (SAC) for their Final Report Number 8: Sentencing of Driving Offences that Result in Death or Injury.

The Government recognises the terrible effects of dangerous driving on our community, and remains committed to legislating to strengthen the law relating to dangerous driving consistent with community expectations.

It is clear from the SAC’s report and the high level of submissions that it received that there are a wide range of views on this area of law. The Government will have careful regard to all of the views put to the SAC, as well as  the SAC’s final advice.
