The Hodgman Liberal Government is continuing its commitment to rural communities by investing a further $1.7 million over the next three years to Rural Alive and Well (RAW).
The funding will provide the certainty RAW needs to continue its outstanding work in our rural Tasmanian communities.
This announcement brings the Hodgman Government’s total additional funding committed to RAW to just over $3 million since 2014 and is made possible because we have got the Budget back on track.
RAW is a not for profit organisation that assists individuals, families and the community by providing outreach support to rural Tasmanians and works with local communities to undertake well-being initiatives.
RAW's outreach program provides a friendly ear, support, information and assistance at any time but particularly in times of difficulty and high stress over the phone or face to face.
Importantly, RAW’s services are free, meaning they are a highly accessible service to connect people who need help to individuals and organisations who can best provide it.
RAW's motto is “Talk to a Mate” and they believe that a healthy, thriving community is one in which all residents enjoy optimal health, can pursue important personal goals, enjoy fulfilling relationships and contribute positively to their local community.
The funding support for RAW will mean we continue to see stronger, more resilient rural communities in our state.
The Hodgman Government is serious about reducing suicide and improving mental health and wellbeing within our community.
