I am advised by the Tasmania Prison Service that the situation at Risdon Prison has been resolved and prisoners are back in their cells.
A full investigation will be completed but I am advised that prisoners cited the phasing out of the nicotine replacement program as justification for their actions.
I thank and commend all the TPS staff for safely resolving this difficult situation.
