#RethinkParks encouraging Tasmanians to get outdoors

The Hodgman Liberal Government recognises that our nature and wilderness are the State’s biggest selling points.

That is why we are committed to working with the tourism industry to drive sustainable tourism in our national parks and natural areas.

The Liberal Government, through Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Services has partnered with COTA for its latest campaign which encourages people of all ages and mobility to visit our national parks this summer, proving age is no barrier to getting outdoors.

Summer is the best time for the #RethinkParks campaign, with the peak visitor season expected to bring about 250,000 travellers to our shores and many more Tasmanians holidaying in their own State.

To enter, visitors and locals can simply post a photo of themselves enjoying a national park using the hashtag #RethinkParks to Instagram or Facebook.

To encourage people to share their outdoor snaps on social media, sponsors The Running Edge are offering the chance to win a number of $50 vouchers to spend in store.

The Government has a target of 1.5 million visitors to Tasmania each year by 2020, and the global reach of social media will assist us to achieve this goal. I congratulate everyone involved in this great initiative and look forward to seeing all the beautiful images of our stunning State.
