Tasmanian retail sales have continued to register record growth in November 2016, recording the 25th consecutive month of growth for the retail sector in Tasmania, with the nominal value of retail trade estimated to be $507.7 million in trend terms for the month.
ABS figures out today confirm that November 2016 marks the seventh consecutive month where sales achieved a turnover of over $500 million.
Retail trade for November 2016 was up 0.3 per cent when compared to the previous month, and up 3.8 per cent when compared to the same time in 2015.
This is evidence of renewed confidence in the Tasmanian business sector, and we will continue to build upon this positive momentum.
After being elected in March 2014, the Hodgman Government swiftly initiated its Plan to stimulate the economy and create an environment ripe for investment, with a flow on effect of jobs.
Since coming to Government in March 2014, retail trade increased by 10.5 per cent to November 2016.
While this is good news, we realise that there is still more work to be done. We will focus on the year ahead and continue with the implementation of our Plan to grow the State’s economy and create jobs for Tasmanians.
