The health, safety and wellbeing of Tasmanians is our number one priority and as Tasmania begins on our road to recovery, it’s imperative that we don’t let down our guard, undo the good work done and invite a second wave of infections to occur.
Tasmanians have worked hard to stay home and save lives, and I thank them for their efforts.
Stage one restrictions being eased tomorrow include:
Our strong border controls will remain in place, with returning Tasmanian residents to now quarantine in their primary residence if it is suitable.
Vulnerable people such as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders aged 50 years and older with one or more chronic medical conditions, people 65 years and older with chronic medical conditions, people aged 70 years and older, people with compromised immune systems, and people with disability are still encouraged to stay home and protect their health.
Workplaces are encouraged to ensure they have their COVID-Safety plans in place to ensure they are meeting the standards required to keep staff and customers safe in a COVID-19 environment.
COVID Ready window stickers and posters are available for workplaces who have their plans in place, which will help provide the Tasmanian community with confidence that workplaces are well prepared to manage and respond to COVID-19, and I encourage eligible businesses to go to the coronavirus.tas.gov.au website for more detailed information.
Our road to recovery is dependent on a team approach with all Tasmanians working together to follow the rules and keep one another safe.
This includes abiding by the restrictions in place, to abide by social distancing rules, downloading the COVID-Safe App to help public health officials with tracing efforts, staying home if you’re unwell and practicing good hygiene at all times.
