Record visitor numbers at Highfield Historic Site

Visitation numbers at Highfield Historic Site in Stanley have reached a record high with 12,535 people visiting in the 12 months ending March 2018.

This is the highest number of visitors since the tally began in 2004 and comes at a time in which significant investment has been made into conservation works at the site.

Restoration is a continual process and the Hodgman Liberal Government’s recent $150,000 investment will ensure that the iconic 1830s residential estate is preserved.

Improvement works including rust treating, painting, electrical upgrades, guttering and plumbing and replacement doors and windows have already been undertaken.

Conservation works began in December 2017 and the remaining projects are due to be finalised in the coming months.

The Highfield Historic Site is a major attraction in the State’s North-West and plays an important role in our booming tourism industry.

Our Government is proud to support such a significant asset to the North-West of Tasmania.
