Record January for TT Line

TT Line is booming under the Hodgman Liberal Government, and the momentum has continued into the New Year with new record passenger numbers for January 2017.

The Spirits of Tasmania carried 79,920 passengers last month, which is the highest January figure in the company’s history - even better than when the Spirit of Tasmania III was running between Sydney and Devonport.

It’s a five per cent increase compared to the same time last year, which is a phenomenal result for both Tasmania’s tourism industry and the broader economy as we know that visitors who come to Tasmania via the Spirits stay longer, spend more, and visit more regions than those who arrive by air.

It’s a clear endorsement of our strategy to reinvigorate the Spirits through the complete refurbishment of both vessels, the doubling of day sailings over the three-year period and the reduction in average fare prices- all of which were opposed by Labor.

TT Line has responded to the further demand by adding additional day sailings to its schedule on Sunday 30 April and Saturday 20 May, which are primarily to assist travellers heading to the Mainland.

These spots are sure to fill up fast, so I urge everyone to book early and make sure they don’t miss out on these additional sailings.
