Under the Hodgman Liberal Government, more Tasmanians than ever are finding work with 14,660 jobs created since the 2014 election according to today’s ABS job figures.
The figures confirm our long-term plan is delivering for Tasmanians, with almost a quarter of a million Tasmanians now employed.
Importantly, full-time employment is at its highest level since the GFC with 2,700 more Tasmanians getting a full-time job in the last 12 months.
The participation rate in Tasmania has also grown to 61.4 per cent - the highest mark in nearly four years, which reflects the increased confidence Tasmanians now have when looking for work.
The unemployment rate has also remained steady at 6 per cent- well below the rate of 7.5 per cent when Labor and the Greens left office.
The Hodgman Liberal Government will do everything possible to create jobs and grow the economy. That’s why we’re supporting businesses by cutting payroll tax, helping more people to build a new home and rolling out a record $2.6 billion infrastructure program to encourage further jobs growth.
