Record audience for the final episode of The Kettering Incident.

The Tasmanian Government is a strong supporter of the cultural and creative industries in Tasmania, and I congratulate the co-creators of The Kettering Incident, Vicki Madden and Vincent Sheehan, and Foxtel for the critical and ratings success of the series.

The hit Tasmanian show concluded Monday night, with the final episode attracting over 151,000 viewers on Foxtel- the highest number of viewers for any episode in the series.

The Kettering Incident was a gripping series, and I eagerly awaited each episode to see Tasmania showcased as part of an intriguing and mysterious story drawing on key elements of Tasmania’s socio-political history .

Since the series debut in July, audience numbers have steadily grown as audiences across the country became hooked with the ever deepening mystery surrounding the townsfolk of Kettering.

Each episode has been the highest-rating non-sport program of the night on Foxtel, and 532,000 people had watched the first episode of the series across its various runs and via timeshifted viewings according to Foxtel.

Through Screen Tasmania, the Tasmanian Government invested $1 million in the eight part series which was filmed in various locations across Tasmania and co-financed by Foxtel, Screen Australia and BBC Worldwide.

This production is the largest television series to be filmed in the state and in addition to generating a local spend of nearly $6 million and providing 110 jobs for local cast and crew the series will promote Tasmania to a worldwide audience.
