Recognition of Teachers and Volunteers

Nominations are being sought to recognise the dedication of public school teachers, principals and volunteers at the RBF Department of Education Awards for Excellence.

The Liberal Government is committed to getting on with the job and improving the educational, training and skills qualifications of our young people.

Recognising excellence in education is very important not only to reward hard work, but to provide an opportunity to share information, improve skills and ultimately enhance educational outcomes.

Parents are encouraged to nominate primary and secondary educators for the Teacher and Principal of the Year awards, to recognise a significant difference in developing their children's learning.

School communities are also invited to nominate parents and other members of the community who are doing exceptional volunteer work for Volunteer of the Year.

Members of the public and staff within the department are also urged to nominate staff for the Leader of the Year in Skills, Community, International and Education Services, or LINC staff Member of the Year.

I continue to be impressed by the talent and dedication of staff and volunteers working in public education and their incredible achievements that are recorded in the nominations.

I look forward to recognising and celebrating their hard work and commitment this year.

Nominations are open to all staff employed by the department for at least 12 months, volunteers working across the department and members of the School Association.

Nominations for the Awards opened on Friday May 16 and close on July 25. The award winners will be announced at a ceremony on October 31:  www.education.tas.gov.au
