Recognising Tasmania’s Tourism Volunteers

Tasmania’s tourism volunteers play an important role enhancing visitor experiences and boosting the visitor economy.

We acknowledge the contribution of volunteers who have worked selflessly to provide a hospitable welcome for visitors and to support genuine, authentic visitor experiences.

They contribute their time in many ways – some volunteer at visitor associations or information centres, others are wildlife rescuers or support museums, the arts and festivals.

Recently we launched the Tasmanian Visitor Engagement Strategy to strengthen our approach to enhancing the overall visitor experience by creating a positive image of Tasmania.

The Visitor Engagement Strategy is a key action of the Tourism 21 Strategy which aims to attract more visitors and increase visitor spend, achieve better visitor dispersal and greater visitor satisfaction.

The social, cultural and economic value of volunteering to Tasmania is conservatively estimated at almost $5 billion.

More than that, tourism volunteers bring a passion to their work that guarantees high-quality visitor engagement in a way that is uniquely Tasmanian.
