I would like to congratulate all 41 finalists, individuals and teams, announced today as part of the Department of Education RBF Awards.
Now in its fifth year, the awards are an opportunity to recognise and reward staff and volunteers who demonstrate excellence in their roles supporting education.
The awards, a department initiative, would not be possible without the support of the naming right sponsor, the Retirement Benefits Fund, and partners; Teachers Health Fund, Wrest Point Tasmania and Telstra.
I am so impressed by the talented and dedicated staff and volunteers working in public education and I applaud the Department of Education’s commitment to recognising and rewarding individuals and teams who have excelled in their area of expertise.
Our public education system is diverse. High quality educational services are delivered across the state in many ways.
Awards such as these are important to recognise the significant work being undertaken, as well as sharing information and skills that will ultimately lead to improved processes and learning outcomes for students and the community.
With a record number of nominations from parents, students and the Tasmanian community, as well as nominations by fellow staff and managers, it is great to see dedicated staff receiving the recognition they deserve.
Recognising and celebrating excellence, innovation and talent is one of the ways we can lift education and in doing so we lift Tasmania.
