Quarter Three report – Liberal Government continuing to deliver for Tasmanians

The Hodgman Liberal Government is continuing to deliver results through our Plan to take Tasmania to the next level.

Today we have released the Quarter Three update on our Building Your Future - First Year Agenda which outlines how we are delivering on our commitments.

Tasmania has the fastest growing economy in the nation, and more than 15,000 new jobs have been created since we were elected.

The Government continues to focus on what matters to Tasmanians – health and education, creating a stronger economy and more jobs, keeping Tasmanians safe, taking action on the cost of living, and building the infrastructure our growing state needs.

But we can only continue to invest in additional services if we keep our Budget on track.

This Third Quarter Update provides progress on over 70 initiatives including:

  • Establishment of a new Brand Tasmania statutory authority to take Tasmania to the next level;
  • Launching the new “Western Wilds” tourism journey to help visitors explore our unique West Coast;
  • Commencement of court-ordered home detention;
  • New GPS monitoring of priority family violence offenders;
  • Bringing together key industry sectors to discuss skills challenges, gaps and opportunities, so we can better align training with the workforce of the future;
  • Opened applications for the $2 million Mining Exploration Grants Program;
  • New funding for our volunteer ambulance officers for expenses, equipment and training, and new patient safety equipment for paramedics;
  • Recruitment for the new Community Rapid Response (Hospital in the Home) service;
  • Designs for the new $2 million Ante-natal clinic at the North-West Regional Hospital;
  • A start on a new Statewide Elder Abuse Prevention Strategy;
  • Roll-out of body worn cameras for Police across the State; and
  • School, National Parks and road upgrades and commencements.

That’s just a snapshot of what we’ve delivered this Quarter.

Over the coming months, we’ll deliver on many more actions, including releasing the new $125 million Affordable Housing Action Plan Stage II, completion of the $12.1 million St Helens District  Hospital and reopening a rehabilitation clinic at the Mersey Community Hospital, identifying a site for the new Northern Prison and upgrading access roads to the Launceston Airport, start to the new Sarah Island Visitor Experience, concept plans for the Cataract Gorge Light Show, a new FarmPoint website for easier access to information for our farmers.
