Put your best foot forward during Women’s Health Week

With Spring now upon us, it’s the perfect time to get outside and get moving for your health.

Women’s Health Week runs from September 2 to 6, with the theme of movement - Put your best foot forward for your health.

The two biggest barriers for women not maintaining a healthy lifestyle is ‘lack of time’ and ‘health not being a priority’. Women’s Health Week is the time to do something for your health and start making positive changes that can last a lifetime.

The Hodgman majority Liberal Government is committed to supporting women’s health through our Tasmanian Women’s Strategy 2018-2021, which sets out the Government‘s gender equality agenda.

The Strategy identifies priority areas for action, including women’s health and wellbeing. Preventative health, improved access to health services and greater participation in sport, recreation and physical activity are among the key actions being implemented under the Strategy.

Women’s Health Week is an annual national health awareness campaign aiming to support women to improve their health. It is a timely reminder to all women to look after themselves inside and out.

During this week, I encourage individuals, communities and workplaces to get involved by sharing our health messages, hosting an event and encouraging as many women as possible to sign up to the week.
