Public Trustee helping vulnerable Tasmanians

A reduction of Public Trustee fees has saved many vulnerable Tasmanians hundreds of dollars each in the first year of the new fee structure.

The Liberal Government and the Public Trustee jointly funded the reduction in fees for represented persons which commenced at the start of 2016.

The Public Trustee now has among the lowest fees in the country for represented persons.

Reducing the fees puts money back into the pocket of people on low incomes represented by the Public Trustee.

This is a great outcome for those who need it most.

The Public Trustee also undertook its biennial survey of clients who have been appointed to the Public Trustee by an order of the Guardianship and Administration Board this year.

The results were very pleasing, with high levels of satisfaction from both independent clients and network support contacts across a range of performance indicators.

The results indicate that satisfaction with Public Trustee as a financial manager has increased, and I commend the Public Trustee for their great work in assisting Tasmanians.
