Psychosocial support commitment welcomed

The Hodgman Liberal Government is proud to be working closely with the Australian Government to invest in important support services for people living with severe mental illness.

Support provided as part of the new national psychosocial measures will include services for people who need different support to that provided through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

Tasmania will receive approximately $1.7 million over four years, with funding provided to Primary Health Networks to complement existing funding.

Importantly, this initiative allows individuals to receive assistance and rehabilitation in their own communities.

Mental health is a priority for the Tasmanian Government and we will continue to support these sorts of initiatives, along with our federal colleagues.

This new funding will complement the $95 million mental health plan we are rolling out, which will deliver 25 new community-based mental health beds and specialist inpatient child and adolescent mental health facilities for the first time ever.
