Preserving Tasmania’s heritage

The Government is committed to preserving and revitalising our local heritage and history through an innovative new Heritage Renewal Loans Scheme.

Ensuring historical assets are maintained and upgraded will enhance visitor experiences, boost local economies and support local jobs.

Loans are available for the refurbishment of heritage properties to facilitate tourism and business opportunities, essential heritage conservation or adapting a property to support a new business initiative that will grow the visitor economy.

Projects may include upgrades or enhancements of heritage buildings for uses such as boutique visitor accommodation, retail, hospitality, gallery, cellar door, visitor services or business premises that target visitors to that area or region.

Loans of between $100,000 and $1.5 million are available to the owners of historic assets that are permanently entered on the Tasmanian Heritage Register.

Loans will be offered for heritage registered business properties at a discount rate of 3.26 per cent per annum with a maximum loan term of five years, or up to 10 years in specific circumstances.

The Heritage Places Renewal Loans Scheme is an initiative of the Office of the Coordinator-General and is being delivered through the TDR Board with the support of the Tasmanian Heritage Council and Heritage Tasmania.

Guidelines and applications form are available from the https://www.cg.tas.gov.au/home
