Ponting partnership to double the dollars for health projects

The Tasmanian Liberal Government has announced it will match all proceeds raised at Ricky’s Biggest Game of Cricket being conducted by the Ponting Foundation in Launceston on 27 January.

The game is being played as a T20 between the Hawthorn and North Melbourne football clubs under lights at the University of Tasmania Stadium.

All funds will go to programs supporting children with cancer and other health related projects in Tasmania.

We’re proud to work with the Ponting Foundation to raise money which will benefit Tasmanians in need.

Tasmanian cricket legend Ricky Ponting will captain North Melbourne while former Australian teammate Damien Fleming will lead the Hawthorn side.

The Tasmanian Government will double the impact by matching all funds raised at the game.

The highly anticipated cricket clash between traditional footy rivals is expected to attract a large crowd.

Our existing partnerships with Hawthorn and North Melbourne deliver great social and economic benefit to Tasmania.  The involvement of players in this charity event speaks volumes about the clubs’ broader commitment to Tasmania and its communities.

Ricky Ponting said “we are very grateful for the generous support of the Government.  Our Foundation is working around the clock to make sure we raise enough money to make a serious difference to sick children and Tasmanians alike.”

“The game is going to be a lot of fun – both teams include the who’s who of both clubs and I know both want to win,” Ricky said.

“We are looking forward to seeing as many Tasmanians and interstate fans of both clubs at the game next month,” he said.
