Work on a $8 million pedestrian memorial bridge linking the Queens Domain to the Hobart Cenotaph will get underway from today.
The Hodgman Liberal Government welcomes this latest infrastructure project that will span more than 200 metres across the Tasman Highway and ensure a safer crossing of one of the State’s busiest intersections.
Importantly the bridge will draw attention to the Soldiers Memorial Avenue, as well as the Cenotaph, and will help reunite the Queens Domain to the water.
Contractors have begun some site establishment works, with heavy plant works to get underway shortly.
It is expected the bridge will be completed by the end of 2018.
The Hobart City Council led project is funded by the Federal Government’s ANZAC Centenary Public Fund with support from the Hodgman Government.
