Pausing to remember fallen officers

Today is a time to remember police officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice while performing their duties and keeping the community safe.

Around the nation police officers will pause on Police Remembrance Day to remember colleagues who have fallen while serving in the line of duty.

It is also a time for family, friends and colleagues of fallen officers to come together to provide support to each other through difficult times.

Officers can find themselves in dangerous and often challenging situations, and sadly, some officers lose their lives while serving and protecting their communities. Today serves as a time to reflect on the daily risks faced by our brave police officers in Tasmania.

Police will be paying tribute to their fallen colleagues by wearing the traditional blue and white chequerboard ribbon, and honouring their sacrifice in ceremonies around the country.
