Partnership to grow Flinders Island tourism

Flinders Island is an iconic nature-based destination that attracts some 6,000 visitors each year.

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is proud to have partnered with the Flinders Island community to develop a Destination Action Plan (DAP) to capitalise on Flinders appeal.

This Plan identifies infrastructure projects and strategies to improve the on island visitor experience so Flinders Island can continue to grow as a tourism hot spot.

The Flinders Island DAP prioritises signage to encourage visitors to venture further and discover all the island has to offer, along with a visitor research project on accommodation.

The Flinders community has also established a fund with Council to enable these priority projects to progress, with  the Government also chipping in up to $50,000.

We will continue to strongly back our visitor economy which is a major economic contributor and supports over 36,000 Tasmanians jobs right around the state.

That is why we have committed $220,000 to the development of 32 Destination Action Plans (DAP) across the State.

Tasmania’s popularity as a must-see destination shows the Tasmanian Liberal Government’s Plan to grow our tourism sector is working.

As we head towards our goal of 1.5 million visitors by 2020, it’s more important than ever that we work with local communities to ensure we give visitors the best experience possible.
