7.30 Report - Further statement

Reporting on the 7.30 Report last night suggesting that I somehow approve or supported violence in care is wrong.

Rather, the reporter in question was advised on background as part of preparation of the story, that according to the Act restraint may not necessarily constitute abuse, depending on the circumstances.

The only formal response provided to the 7.30 Report attributable to me or the Government were those in my earlier media release today.

It is deeply unfortunate that this misreporting is now being repeated as fact, and we will be lodging a formal complaint with the 7.30 Report about it.

I reiterate all claims that have been raised as reported in last night’s 7.30 Report have been fully investigated, all of which relate to care provided between 2008 - 2014.

I consider it the height of dishonesty and duplicity for my political opponents to criticise me for actions which took place on their watch.
