The Hodgman majority Liberal Government is committed to keeping Tasmanians safe.
We have demonstrated this by employing 119 additional Correctional Officers since May 2016, with recruitment already underway for a further 90 Correctional Officers by the end of 2020.
The Department of Justice and the Tasmanian Prison Service (TPS) is already working on a number of other strategies on top of this recruitment to address the recommendations of the Tasmanian Audit Office Report. This is acknowledged by the report which states “it (the TPS) has taken steps to address them”.
