Today I was pleased to officially open the new and redeveloped facilities at Montrose Bay High School in northern Hobart, one of many Tasmanian Government schools benefiting from the biggest state investment in school infrastructure in over 20 years.
As part of the $5.8 million project, Montrose Bay High School will now benefit from a new administration block, a refurbished gymnasium including a new outdoor education classroom, new toilets and change spaces, a new catering kitchen, and fully renovated Year 7 and Year 8 teaching blocks, including lift access.
The project is part of our continued capital works upgrades to government schools, with an additional $28.8 million over four years in the 2017-18 Budget, upgrading students’ learning environments while driving economic growth and creating jobs.
The Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to lifting education outcomes and creating a job-ready generation by giving students easier access to senior secondary studies, sending a clear message that school does not finish at Year 10.
