O’Connor’s disgraceful slur against Multicultural Council

Cassy O’Connor’s blatant and xenophobic attacks on sections of our multicultural community has crossed the line after she referred to comments from the Multicultural Council of Tasmania as ‘Chinese Communist Party talking points’ in Parliament.

The Premier was directly quoting comments from the Multicultural Council’s newsletter when Ms O’Connor interjected and referred to the comments as “CCP (Chinese Communist Party) talking points”.*

Ms O’Connor should immediately apologise and retract the statement in Parliament.

It’s clear that the Greens are prepared to slur anyone and everyone in their attempts to talk down any engagement between Tasmania and our largest trading partner.

The Greens need to understand that their repeated attacks on any engagement with Chinese people or organisations risks causing harm and distress to people in our community.
