O’Connor must apologise to log truck drivers

The Greens leader Cassy O’Connor’s claim in debate on our forest legislation last night that log trucks kill people is a despicable slur and shows how out of touch she really is with Tasmanians.*

To suggest that log trucks are any more dangerous than any other vehicle on the road, is indefensible and a new low for the Greens.

Tasmanian families who work in the trucking industry would be angered by her appalling comments.

I call on Ms O’Connor to immediately apologise to these hardworking log truck families.

*“Where is the public interest in exposing Tasmanians to an increased number of log trucks on the road?  Where is the public interest for people who live along the Southern Outlet and in Hobart knowing that the log trucks are about to ramp up under this Government, log trucks that kill people?’’ Cassy O’Connor, Hansard, 16/3/17.
