O’Byrne wrong again

From the Education Act to Online Access Centres Labor’s deceitful scaremongering continues, with their most recent statement on Online Access centres (OACs) being the 4th incorrect media statement on education made by Labor in 5 days.

The fact is Online Access Centres are not closing - they are being provided a more sustainable future including plans for up to a 3 year funding deal which provides much more security than the annual funding they received under Labor.

The Hodgman Government understands the importance of Online Access Centres (OACs) in keeping rural and regional Tasmania digitally connected.

As was the case under the previous government, some OACs  have been supported to continue through co-location within existing LINC Tasmania sites to offer convenient access to information services under the one roof.

The remaining 20 OACs which are community-managed will have their government funding agreements extended for up to three years to provide centres with greater security and opportunities for forward planning.

This opportunity was communicated to all community-run OACs in May 2016.

Unlike Labor this government looks forward to a brighter future for Tasmania.
