Next generation of Tasmanian filmmakers

EMBARGOED: NOT BEFORE 3.15PM THURSDAY 7 DECEMBER 2017

Congratulations to more than 1,000 aspiring filmmakers who tested their cinematic skills in this year’s MyState Student Film Festival.

A record 74 schools were represented in 257 immensely thought provoking and inspiring films.

The Tasmanian screen industry has gone up a level in recent years producing Oscar nominations, Logies and various industry awards for our performers, writers and producers.

From the many exceptional efforts Harry Jacobson of Taroona High School won the Premier’s Prize for most Thought Provoking and Inspiring Film for his production Shadow’s Tale.

Screen Tasmania also supported the Best Screenplay award which went to Calvin Christian School for Shifter.

Our thanks to MyState for their continued commitment to this captivating celebration of Tasmanian screen talent, and to the support cast of teachers, staff and parents who assist the entrants.

All films can be viewed at www.MyStateFilmFestival.com.au
