Today, it was my pleasure to open the newly integrated campus at Springfield Gardens Primary School that forms part of the Government’s investment in upgrading students’ learning environments while growing the Tasmanian economy through design and construction jobs.
The capital works funding of $600,000 has enhanced a whole of school perspective and an increased sense of community between the students, parents and staff.
The new Move Well Eat Well space has been developed in partnership with MONA and is the centrepiece that engages families through the LIFT program and is a space where the school makes practical use of the vegetables from the thriving garden.
The new classrooms are designed with flexibility in mind to encourage and enhance collaboration and allow for school events, such as assemblies, or the canteen to occur under one roof without an increase to the footprint of the school buildings.
I’d like to acknowledge the great work by local architect, Preston Lane Architect along with builders, Wyatt Constructions Pty Ltd to deliver this project for the students at Springfield Gardens Primary School and surrounding suburbs.
Education is a major focus for the Hodgman Liberal Government with $110 million being invested in new school infrastructure over four years to upgrade facilities at schools around the state.
