New Wrinklers Lagoon Bridge open to traffic

The Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to ensuring Tasmania's future infrastructure needs are met, and I am pleased to announce the new Wrinklers Lagoon Bridge is complete and open to traffic.

Situated on the Tasman Highway north of Scamander, Wrinklers Lagoon Bridge is located on a key freight link in the State's north east, and the Government invested $1.9 million in this important infrastructure project.

The new bridge has increased load-carrying capacity for heavy vehicles that will help support the local economy by securing access for oversize vehicles needed by industry in the area.

It also includes a walkway to provide safe pedestrian access over Wrinklers Lagoon for locals and visitors.

The replacement of ageing bridge infrastructure, such as the previous Wrinklers Lagoon Bridge that was built in 1958, is essential to maintain access for modern heavy vehicles into the future.

The project was completed by Tasmanian company VEC Civil Engineering, supporting Tasmanian jobs in line with our Buy Local policy.
