New website helps builders and consumers

Information about consumer rights, product safety, renting and building is now easier to access following the launch of the new Consumer, Building and Occupational Services (CBOS) website: www.cbos.tas.gov.au

The website is designed to deliver building industry practitioners and consumers easy and quick access to information wherever they are – at home, out on site, or in transit.

Information has been developed in plain and clear English, rather than long-winded bureaucratic language.

The Hodgman Liberal Government consulted with users and considered their feedback on what worked and what didn’t.

The new website continues the commitment to helping a range of occupational licence holders, such as builders, plumbers and electricians, renew their licences online, often without having to visit a government office.

Information is grouped on the home page under the following headings:

  • Housing
  • Products and services
  • Technical regulation
  • Licensing and registration
  • Clubs and fundraising
  • Resources and tools

Old links on www.justice.tas.gov.au will automatically redirect to the new website.
