New Visitor Centre for the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens

The Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens are one of the State’s most visited attractions and are a special feature of our beautiful capital city.

In the last year, more than 461,000 people including locals and tourists visited the gardens, which are the second oldest Botanical Garden’s in the country.

This year marks the bicentenary of the gardens, and it is important we invest in facilities to ensure future generations have a first class experience when they visit.

This year’s Budget includes a $3.6 million commitment to develop a new Visitor Centre at the Gardens.

It will not only help to provide a better experience for visitors, but importantly will allow the Gardens to generate additional revenue and ensure its financial sustainability.

The Government is committed to investing in our assets to protect our special way of life, and to continue the strong growth in our visitor economy.

In this historic Bicentenary Year, this is an important investment in our treasured Gardens that will go a long way to ensuring they are enjoyed for many more years to come.
