I welcome the $750,000 Advanced Welding Training Centre announced today by the Federal Government for the North of Tasmania.
Located in Burnie, this project will train and skill local welding apprentices and workers from Tasmanian businesses.
The funding will allow for the purchase of five state-of-the-art welding simulators and advanced technical training to help upskill TasTAFE trainers.
Such an investment will ensure more Tasmanians are job ready and equip with high quality skills needed in growing industries across the State.
I would like to thank Liberal Candidate for Braddon, Brett Whiteley, and Federal Minister for Education and Training, Simon Birmingham, for making this commitment which will no doubt boost businesses and jobs in the region.
