New STEM Learning Hub at Hellyer College

Students at Hellyer College are benefiting from a $3.5 million refurbishment of the Science and Mathematics Hub which now boasts four new science laboratories.

Students are able to undertake experiments and simulations in the facilities which are architecturally designed to utilise many of the building’s service networks.

A large aquarium is another important feature which forms part of a window between classrooms, providing an imaginative and contemporary learning space.

I would like to congratulate the architects who worked with staff and students to transfer their dreams and goals for the facility into what we see today.

Tasmanian owned business Oliver Kelly Construction commenced the works in November last year.

High-quality science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education is critically important for our current and future productivity as a region and state.

Many of the industries that operate and thrive in the North West of our state rely on scientific thinking and principles such as agriculture, mining, forestry, manufacturing, food processing and health care.
