The Liberal Government is getting on with the job of rebuilding our frontline public services.
We have committed to restore police numbers to 1228 officers after they were slashed under the former Labor-Green government, and we are delivering.
Today, 20 new recruits were sworn in at the Tasmania Police Academy at Rokeby, the second intake since the Liberal Government took office.
They have commenced a 28-week course that will see them graduate as police officers in March 2015.
Another intake of recruits began their training two months ago and will graduate in December.
Additional courses are expected to begin in February and April next year.
At the election, the Liberals promised to put 108 new police officers on the frontline over the next four years - and we will keep our promise.
We want Tasmania Police to be recognised as being the best law enforcement agency in the country, and today's recruits will help achieve that vision.
