New learning spaces for Waimea Heights students

Today I had the pleasure of officially opening the newly redeveloped 21st Century learning spaces at Waimea Heights Primary School.

The new classrooms, with an overall cost of $760,000, feature open spaces with natural light and heating to support a modern learning environment.

These new resources will ensure the Waimea Heights Primary School can continue to work on their recent achievements, such as being a nominated Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) school and a lead school in New Pedagogies for Deep Learning.

I’d like to acknowledge the great work by local architect, David Menzies along with Maverick Builders for their work to deliver this exciting project for the students and staff at Waimea.

The new classrooms at Waimea Heights are part of a $110 million program of capital work improvements in state schools – this is the biggest state investment in Government School infrastructure in 20 years.

With the budget back on track we are reinvesting more into essential services such as education. There can be no greater investment than in the future of our children.

By improving learning spaces we are providing the right environment for students to build their knowledge and a path to a brighter future.
