New learning spaces for Margate students

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is making the biggest investment in school infrastructure for 20 years and this includes two newly redeveloped Year 1 classrooms at Margate Primary School, which we are proud to jointly open today.

A total of $635,000 was provided for two upgraded learning areas for Year 1 students, including landscaping to extend play areas and link to outside learning spaces. This is part of a $110 million investment the Government is making in schools while also helping to grow the economy and jobs through design and construction.

Margate Primary School enrolments have grown 20 per cent since 2008 as more young families move into the area, the redeveloped building is a welcome addition to the fast growing school community.

It’s fantastic to see the students in these new spaces which will enrich their learning and play-based experiences. Providing students with modern, flexible learning environments is a key part of continuing to improve student’s learning outcomes so all young Tasmanians have the opportunity to build their knowledge and a path to their future careers.

We would also like to acknowledge the great work by local architect, Tim Penny Architecture and Interiors along with builders, Tascon Constructions to deliver this project for the students in Margate and surrounds.

With the Budget back on track we are able to reinvest the dividends into essential services such as education, which is reflected in the works that have occurred at Margate Primary School.
