The Tasmanian Government is committed to excellence in education and a vital part of our Plan is investing in contemporary learning environments for the benefits of Tasmanian students.
Today’s opening of newly-constructed learning areas at Lauderdale Primary School represents $1.6 million in funding for education infrastructure while also growing the Tasmanian economy through design and construction jobs.
The capital works at Lauderdale Primary School has enabled much needed additional learning spaces for the school of more than 600 students, including a General Learning Area and two dedicated learning environments for Kindergarten. The new Early Years rooms demonstrate the Government’s ongoing commitment to providing young Tasmanian children with high quality play-based learning environments.
These contemporary learning spaces link the indoor and outdoor environment and reflect quality early learning experiences, including introducing information technology to Kindergarten.
A 21st Century learning environment has been developed in the new General Learning Area as a flexible education space currently utilised by a combined Year 3/4 class.
Congratulations also to the great work by local architect, Preston Lane Architect along with builders, Fairbrother to deliver this project for the students in Lauderdale and the surrounding communities.
Education and health are major focuses of the Tasmanian Government as we reinvest the dividends of a balanced Budget into core, essential services.
Across the forward estimates, the 2016-17 Budget provides the biggest state investment in Tasmanian Government school infrastructure in 20 years – building our education future by upgrading students’ learning environments while growing the Tasmanian economy.
In total $110 million will be invested over four years to upgrade facilities at schools around the State which will provide students with modern, flexible learning environments as a key part of improving their learning outcomes.
