King Island locals and visitors will soon enjoy better access to Seal Rocks and the island’s stunning south western coastline with works starting on a new access-friendly path and viewing platform.
Tasmanian company AJR Construct have been awarded the contract for the construction of a new lookout and redesigned walkway at Seal Rocks State Reserve.
Managed through the Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife Service, the $160,000 upgrade works are being funded through the Hodgman majority Liberal Government’s Maintenance Boost program.
The Tasmanian Government is investing $31 million over four years to future-proof our Parks' tourism infrastructure and enhance the experiences for locals and visitors.
The site will be closed for the duration of the works. The old viewing platform will be removed ahead of the construction of the new platform and path.
Starting in November 2019, the works are expected to take approximately 4 weeks to complete, subject to favourable weather conditions and the associated logistics of working in a remote site.
