The Hodgman Liberal Government is ensuring our emergency services have the best technology possible to help Tasmanians in need and save lives.
That’s why we have committed over $17 million to fund the Emergency Services Computer-Aided Dispatch (ESCAD) Project, and I am very pleased to announce the first step in the rollout to all our emergency services has been implemented with the system now being used by Tasmania Police.
The ESCAD System is a contemporary dispatch system that will be used by all of our emergency services, allowing far greater cooperation and visibility across all emergency service areas- especially during large scale emergency events such as bushfires.
This will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our emergency response departments, resulting in both increased safety for those on the frontline and more Tasmanian lives saved in emergency situations.
An integrated communications and dispatch system was ignored by Labor during their 16 years in office despite numerous calls from stakeholders for its implementation, and it has taken a majority Liberal Government to provide this important upgrade in our first term.
Ambulance Tasmania will be the next service to commence using the new system, with a ‘go-live’ date of 28 November 2017, with the Tasmania Fire Service and State Emergency Service following in 2018.
