New Daisy App to Help Survivors of Family and Sexual Violence

The Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to engaging with the community to reduce family and sexual violence against women and children.

We are working with other state and territory governments and the Australian Government under the Second Action Plan of the National Plan to Prevent Violence Against Women and their Children.

From midday today an app developed with input from all governments and funded under the Action Plan will be available to help women get the help that they need.

Daisy was launched by the Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for Women, Senator Michaeli Cash, and Australian of the Year Rosie Batty in Melbourne today.

The app, which is free and available for iPhones and Android phones, lists services across Australia that support women in their decision-making and protect the rights of women experiencing violence.

The service listing includes specialist sexual assault, family violence and domestic violence services. Responding to violence requires a whole-of-government approach, so Daisy also lists legal services, housing and finance services.

An initiative of 1800RESPECT, the National Sexual Assault Domestic Family Violence Counselling Services, Daisy has a number of security features including a "quick exit" button to leave screens containing service information.

This app is a positive example of the significant work that is being undertaken to better support women, and to help to reduce family and sexual violence.

If you or someone you know is impacted by sexual assault or family violence, call the Safe at Home Family Violence Response and Referral Line 1800 633 937 or visit www.1800respect.org.au In an emergency, call 000.
