New Constables Congratulated

Today's graduation of 17 new constables represents another step forward in the Hodgman Liberal Government's plan to rebuild Tasmania Police.

The new constables bring full-time equivalent police numbers to about 1150.

On behalf of the Government, I congratulate these officers on completing the intensive 28-week recruit course, and on embarking on challenging and rewarding careers with Tasmania Police.

Another 20 trainees will follow in their footsteps when the next recruit course begins next month.

The doors have also been opened to expressions of interest for future recruit courses later this year and in 2016.

The Government is committed to restoring police numbers to 1228, the level they were at before the previous Labor-Green government's cuts, to help keep our community safe.
