The Hodgman Liberal Government’s number one priority is jobs.
Today’s ABS figures are further evidence that our long-term Plan for a brighter future is working.
While ABS data can be volatile, the trend is definitely in the right direction and since the election, nearly 5,000 new jobs have been created.
These figures come on the back of a Property Council survey that again confirms confidence is booming in Tasmania.
There has never been a better time to invest in Tasmania, to start a business in Tasmania or to get a job and raise a family in Tasmania and with our long-term Plan, the Government wants to build on that momentum but also invest in the core responsibilities of government.
We’ve made good progress reducing the unemployment queues and this year we’ll be focussing more on upskilling Tasmanians to match them with the jobs needed in our growing tourism, agriculture and construction industries.
Two years ago under Labor and the Greens, Tasmania needed more jobs. Now we need more skilled Tasmanians to fill the jobs that have been created under the Hodgman Liberal Government, which is a clear sign of how far we have come in a couple of years.
